Earlier this year, the district engaged in a process to hire transportation providers, and we are pleased to announce that we have selected First Student for elementary and middle schools. Beginning in the fall, elementary and middle school students will be transported on yellow buses provided by First Student. High school students will continue to ride Metro buses to and from school.
As part of this shift, we are also excited to share that we will be moving from a three-tier routing system to two start timesfor elementary and one start time for middle schools, beginning fall 2023. This change will allow us to accommodate earlier start times for our youngest learners and later start times for our middle school students, reflecting the spirit of the start times plan the Board of Education approved in July 2018 and later disrupted by the pandemic.
Specific information about bus stops and pick up/drop off times will be shared with families in August.
The 2023-2024 start and dismissal times are as follows:
Elementary Schools - 7:25 a.m. breakfast and soft landing; 7:40 a.m. instructional start
7:40 a.m. start • 1:15 p.m. Monday early release • 2:40 p.m. Tuesday-Friday dismissal

- Shabazz: 8:45 a.m. start • 3:15 p.m. (varies on Wednesdays) • 1:50 p.m. Monday early release
